My friend just dropped $250k on an EMBA. I told him he should've bought a Lamborghini instead.

My friend just dropped $250k on an EMBA. I told him he should've bought a Lamborghini instead.

He's struggling to find a job in tech. So he enrolled in a top-tier program. His logic? The network. He figured the connections would help him land a better role or pivot into something new.

I get it. But here's what he's overlooking.

That same $250k gets you a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP610. Right spec, low miles. You can drive it for about $2,100 a month and make most of your money back on resale in two years.

So he gets to drive an exotic practically for the cost of a Honda Accord.

The real value, however, is the network the Lambo attracts.

Take it to cars & coffee and you'll meet business owners, real estate investors, and founders. All will be eager to connect because of what you're driving. Enroll in a rally or two and you're power networking with exotic car owners; each of whom is building something.

We're conditioned to believe the EMBA is the safe bet. Yet, an exotic car is the most underrated networking tool available.

I speak from experience.

I met the owner of Watch Trading Software at a car networking event. Wouldn't have been there without my R8. That conversation led to leaving corporate, buying the software company and, along with TimelySoles, replacing my income in under 6 months.

So what would you do? Take the EMBA or drive the Lambo for two years?
