He wanted a Rolex Root Bear in Rose Gold. I advised him to go the pre-owned route. Never pay up for the brand-new-in-box pieces on the secondary market.
So, we got him a complete set dated 2021. Minty. Strong store of value there.
In exchange, I took his 2002 Presidential Day-Date...complete collector's set. Full paperwork and box. Watch needed a light polish; no problem. Our in-house watchmaker/polisher took good care of it.
So I took his Presidential + $21k cash on top for the Root Beer.
Not sure if I won that deal....
But my client got his dream watch. Lowered his out-of-pocket. And moved on from a piece that just wasn't as meaningful as it used to be.
So who do you guys think won/lost the trade?
P.S. The Day-Date is available :)
I think I lost this trade with my client
