When I'm working with first-time buyers, one of the most common questions I ask is: what's your wrist size?
Most guys have no idea. And I put a pause on the whole process.
Your wrist size determines what case size you can actually pull off.
I have a 6¾ inch wrist. That means I have no business wearing a 44mm Panerai. It looks like a manhole cover on my wrist.
Then there's this guy with a massive 8+ inch wrist. Come hell or high water he's fitting into the 40mm Land-Dweller....
Which is like me fitting my 6'4" frame into a tight coach class seat on American.
Ugly and uncomfortable.
Here's my advice. Before you get too serious, grab a flexible tape measure and wrap it around your wrist. Takes 30 seconds. Or go to your local jeweler or watchmaker and ask them to measure you. They'll do it for free.
Do you know your wrist size?
Most guys buying their first watch skip the most important step.
